The restaurant has been opened for years and I've been coming here since years back. It's a small hole the wall located right behind Portsmouth square in Chinatown. It gets quite busy during lunch hour and they close at 5:30pm. If you're in the area, come grab a seat and try the food. I usually go for their House Special Noodle, Bun Bo Hue, and Grilled Pork Chop rice and Imperial Rolls. Hot tea and off menu drip coffee can be requested; recommended must try. Flavors never miss every time I come here.

Need a quick fix of 5 spice chicken imperial roll rice plate? Say no more, this is the spot! Juicy, tender chicken thigh to go along with rice wrapped rolls you cannot go wrong! Meat in the bun bo hue was a little off, pig trotter had a weird taste to it, guessing it was sitting for a while.

Service and food come up to about a 3.5 rating for me, but I can round up for the fact that these guys are a local small business just trying to make it. As y'all can see through the reviews, it's a popular choice for Vietnamese food in San Francisco's renown Chinatown, and has been for decades. We stopped in on a Sunday morning for brunch and were seated immediately. It wasn't packed but it stayed consistently busy with guests coming in and out, and others picking up their phone orders. My date and I both ordered #1 on the menu which is described on the menu as House Special Noodle Soup ($15.50 each), and #26 which is a full order of a Spring Rolls ($11.00). The broth to the pho didn't have a lot of flavor and the noodles were way too overcooked -- harder to eat when it's so dense. All the meat cuts were good and the variety were spread generously in every bowl. The spring rolls were awkward because there was no pork wrapped into it -- just a few slices of shrimp halves and lots of vermicelli noodles and lettuce. Felt a bit ripped off for that order. With the coffee and gratuity, the bill for a two person brunch was $60. Probably wouldn't be my first choice for pho in SF, but hey -- these guys have a legacy they need to continue carrying on. I would just suggest to the head chef: perhaps, revisit the prep for the pho broth? The broth makes or breaks it for a bowl of pho that stands out from the rest.

A pretty good place if you wanna get some blended kind of pho, and I say this because it's not the same type of pho from a straight-up Vietnamese establishment. The owners here are likely just good chefs, who makes Chinese versions of pho. So if you want the real deal pho, this may not be the place for you! Anyway, this place gets busy. Bonus if you can speak Cantonese here, 'cause you'll get your order in once you're seated. They'll bring you a tea pot with your tea of choice and then you chill. My friends and I each got the Bun Bo Hue, which was pretty good, just wasn't what I was expecting personally. I like the true Vietnamese style, but their version here will fill the tummy. They have different pho bowls and Chinese-style plates. So you have a good choice. The restaurant is directly in front of Portsmouth Park, so if you're walking around Grant or Kearny Avenues, you'll be close by. As this is Chinatown, good luck with parking, or just take the Muni and walk over here. It's pretty conveinent to get here that way.

No frills pho place in chinatown perfect for a casual lunch! I ordered the smaller version of #2 on the menu and it was great! It was a good size (I can never finish regular size bowls of pho) and had great taste too :)
